More Workshop Info
July 30, 31, August 1, ONLINE workshop

Alexis believes that superb DESIGN is essential in making art that excels. An unremarkable painting can be elevated into one that is powerful and engaging ... with the application of strategic, thoughtful, and dynamic design!
During this workshop, we will learn the concepts of design and how to integrate them into our paintings ... to take our paintings to that next level. We will learn how to identify what we want to describe, express, and communicate – and how to manipulate our lines, shapes, values, and colors, to achieve this … in other words how to design our paintings for the best results! We’ll explore a variety of subjects and see how we can turn them into exciting, emotional, unique works of art – with the right combination of creative design... and, as always, solid drawing, effective painting techniques, and imagination.

Alexis loves teaching all of her workshops! On this page, you will find information on her upcoming workshops, starting with the soonest. Please scroll down to find the workshop you are interested in.
You will notice that some of the workshops have more description and others less. This is NOT because they are either more important or less so. Rather, it is a reflection of how much actual promotion Alexis is expected to do for each workshop. Some workshop organizations expect her to do a LOT more promotion and you will therefore find longer descriptions here.
Please CONTACT Alexis if you would like to receive more information about any workshop.

"Bridging Abstraction and Realism"
November 6 and 7, ONLINE workshop
Non-members are welcome!

This is Alexis' newest workshop, and she is very excited about it!
Alexis believes that an abstract design is the foundation of every painting, essential for its success. So - every one of her paintings, even if it looks realistic, is also abstract!
And then every so often, she creates a painting that is entirely abstract, with no identifiable imagery in it. This process is different from her realistic process, but as with realism, requires a strong foundation of design, along with intuitive decision making. Two very different ways of working, with two very different results!
In this workshop, Alexis will create two demo paintings for you, one realistic, and one abstract. She will use the same source photo for both. It will be fascinating to see how she uses lines, shapes, values, colors, and textures from one photo ... to create two very different paintings.
